ABsolute Handicrafts: Madhubani / Mithila painting originated in Madhubani District of Bihar at the time of the Ramayana, when King Janak commissioned artists to do paintings at the time of marriage of his daughter, Sita, to Lord Ram. Madhubani paintings use two dimensional imagery. The attributes of Madhubani Paintings are -: Use of bold natural and artificial colors. A double line border with simple geometric designs or with ornate floral patterns on it. Symbols, lines and patterns supporting the main theme.
